Unexpected Blessings and First Love

It’s been a busy few weeks on the homestead as we try to get the homestead up and running, get ready for baby and begin another year of homeschooling 3 littles. We have been learning how to keep God first and continue seeking the kingdom of heaven first all while being nonstop with the things we need to provide for the family this side of heaven. After all, the promise of Matthew 6:33 is what started us down this path. At times, it has felt like we were losing sight of everything and things were way harder than they should be. Like when pumping water from the pond means having no electricity or water inside for the day because we are running off of the generator which is needed at the pond in order to pump and the batteries for our solar power haven’t arrived after months of waiting. Or when all work on the house had to come to a stop because I got incredibly sick for a few weeks and barely got out of bed, wondering if we should go to the hospital.

We have had to continuously remind ourselves why we started this journey and that as long as we keep Him first, God will provide all we need. When we fail, we have to repent and refocus….returning to our first love…

“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”
— Revelation 2:5 (KJV)

Every time we refocus, God shows up…when we refocus on Him, even in the middle of the chaos He shows up before we ask.. Tim and I had been talking about wanting to add chickens to our homestead. I mean is it really a homestead without chickens? However, with everything going on with trying to get into the shipping containers and out of the RV, getting ready for baby and figuring out a source of income…we knew we couldn’t spend the money on a coup and we definitely couldn’t take the time to build a coup because our house is more important. One evening a couple neighbors showed up to introduce themselves and ask if we wanted any chickens. They offered us as many chickens as we wanted, gave us 2 free coups and are coming to help Tim prepare the area for them!

As we started to be more aware of our grocery bills while we continue to pray about a source of income, we had neighbor after neighbor show up to introduce themselves and bring us fresh food from their gardens as well as meals while I was so sick.

This journey has been really challenging in so many different ways. At times we have wondered if we are doing the right thing. Were we crazy when we read those promises and felt the tug to go? But in other ways….our faith has never been stronger. We have never been closer to each other or God. We have never seen His blessing like we have over these last 6 months. God doesn’t promise us a life of comfort and ease…as a matter of fact He promises that we will face trials and tribulations….but along with that He promises to never leave us and to provide all that we need as long as we focus on Him rather than the trials and tribulations.

So as summer comes to a close, here we are. Leaning on His promises, waiting for this new precious life to join our family, beginning a new year of homeschooling and learning how to seek Him first above anything else!!

We have been slow posting and updating and I’d like to say that we will do better…however, I can’t promise that as we don’t know what each day holds and this little one could join us any day now. I can say that we will do our best to update and we hope our testimony edifies all of you who are reading. We would love to hear from any of you saints out their!!

Blessings!

  1. If God wanted everyone to live this way, why did he give people the ability to invent things to make our lives easier? I don’t think he intends people to continue on living like this.

    1. Shannon,

Could you tell me what you specifically are referring too? We are simply telling you what is going on at our homestead, how we have been prompted to live and separate from the world. Are you saying that we are living in sin because we have things available to us that could make our lives easier and don’t use them? Considering that we in no way have said that this is the only way to live, and that our testimony has offended you in some way, do you think that it is possible the Holy Spirit is convicting you of something in your life? I honestly do not know myself, as I do not know you or your situation, but normally if offense arises due to testimony it is due to some conviction within that person.
My family and I have been called out of the world as the scriptures say in the way described in our posts. Other people are called out in other ways, the main thing is we should be separate from the world as being a friend of the world is an enemy of God. (James 4:4) Also, all these things to make my life easier are available to me, but not all things actually help. (1 Cor 6:12)
Please search the scriptures, search you heart, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12), and figure out how the Lord would have you to live.
Remember, there are judgments required within the body, and there are judgements that are not. If we are in sin and violating scriptures by our life then show us. If not your judgement falls outside the parameters and is a sinful judgement of which you need to repent.

      1. I’m not offended at all by this. Just asking a question. You seem a little offended by my question. You seem to have implied through some of your posts that this is the way God intends people to live. Brittany made it seem as though wearing makeup was sinful. It sounds a little judgmental.

        1. Edited to fix a typo in my scripture reference.

          Shannon,

Please keep comments and replies to the content of the post. For a biblical account of adorning, which includes make-up, please refer to: 1 Timothy 2:9, 1 Peter 3:1-4. Please read those in context, read the whole chapter. See what is written in plain english.

          Back on topic.
You have not answered any of my questions. Show me in scripture how that the way were are living is sinful. What scriptures am I violating? This is simply a post about the homestead, an update. The way were are living and striving to live is ONE way. I, Timothy, was given a choice. This choice was my worldly lifestyle and job or Jesus. This required me to leave it all behind and start anew. Some must do this as it is what the Lord requires of them, some can be at the seat of Satan as the people of Pergamos in Revelation 2. Either way we must separate and not be friend of the world, (Jesus is not a friend of sinners) this is how the Lord required it for me. If your life the way you are living is causing you to sin, then you need to leave that life behind. This blog post is about our physical journey, our physical road, wherever an however Jesus leads and is to encourage others who are being prompted to do the same. Check your life, are you striving to live for Jesus each and every moment? Are there things that cause you sin that need to be cut out? Do you take pleasure in sin, for instance on TV? Are you living to edify the body and glorify Christ? Only you can answer these questions.

Briefly on judgment, I will have a post on this very soon and until this know that we are commanded to judge within the body anything that is contrary to scripture. And it is laid out really well in 1 Cor 5:

I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
          (1 Corinthians 5:9-13 KJV)

        2. I am still a little unsure what exactly you are referring to…as the scriptures say we are called to be a separate people (come out from among them and be ye separate, and many other scriptures as we already addressed.) Also this looks a little different for each person so again i am unclear on the issue here. Do you realize that you have passed judgement on us for the way God has called us to live? If you are offended by another post I made than clarify on that post as well and we can discuss it. In reference to make up….we are as godly women told not to adorm ourselves very clearly in scriptures, as stated in the previous comment…I’d encourage you to go and study those scriptures on your own and spend time in prayer about make-up…God’s word never changes.

          1. I’m not judging how you are living. I have no problem with that. You all made it seem like that was the way to live to please God and any other way was sinful. Brittany, I hope you and your daughters are truly happy and that your baby will be safe. It seems like that would be a stressful way for a mother to take care of kids especially with a newborn.

          2. Again…I really don’t understand what exactly you are referring to. Yes, there are some surprises that we have had to deal with and struggles to work through but that’s a part of everyone’s life. Could you explain to me what is so scary? The only tning I see is offense causing someone to read into a post. If you have read any of my posts with a true heart for Jesus you would see what He has brought us out of and how He has turned everything around for us. You are continuing to judge us based on conviction you have felt and are not backing your comments up with any scripture at all. If you can show me scripturally where your concerns have come from then feel free to do so…. If you are going to continue to avoid scripture and are not going to edify the body then the conversation will stop here.

          3. Shannon,

Was Jacob safe? Was Abraham safe? Was Jesus safe? Was any person mentioned in the bible safe? Were babies and families safe in 1800’s? The 1900’s? We have more amenities and things to help us out than most people in the world today. Shannon, if you are not going to respond with scripture to make a proper rebuke, then commenting will be denied. Please keep comments scriptural and on topic. Your comments have not edified the body, they do not contend for the faith, the do not glorify Jesus. I am not sure what you issue is, and I do not appreciate you questioning the safety of my family without any evidence to back up your claim. This is bearing false witness and is sinful.
We share our journey to glorifying Christ, if you do not like that, then leave. If we are in error, then show us in scripture. Scripture shows that adornment is sinful and if you have an issue with following God’s word, then you have an issue with the Lord, not with us. Study the word, pray, and repent.

  2. “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.”
    — Proverbs 18:13

If you are reading that into any of our posts than you have a problem with God’s order and need to go study the word and pray. You just falsly accused my husband and need to repent.

“For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
    — Romans 13:9 (KJV)

I pray you search your heart and repent.

  3. Beth,

This is your one warning. If you are not going to respond scripturally and on topic, your posts will not be approved for viewing. Here we look to edify Christ not make baseless accusations. Go read you bible in spirit and in truth, and pray and repent of your baseless accusation.

    Here is God’s word:
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
    (1 Corinthians 11:3 KJV)
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
    (1 Timothy 2:9-15 KJV)

  4. Well, all I did was ask a simple question and give my opinion. I never judged. If one can’t comment a differing opinion than yours than I will go read someone else’s blog. I do believe that God just wants us to live a happy life and if wearing makeup and tank tops makes me happy, then I think God is happy with that too.

    1. Hi Shannon….
Here at A family Serving The King we choose not to make excuses for anything in God’s word as we do not want to stand face to face with Him in the end and tell Him we didn’t think that part of His word applied to us and we just wanted to be happy. This blog is for true saints who wish to do the same. We have answered your question and all your comments with scripture and you have yet to respond scripturally to anything nor have you answered any of our questions therefore I’m not sure what the problem is. We pray that one day you soften your heart to the truth and power in God’s word before you come face to face with Him. Scriptures are very clear that we are not expected to have a “happy” easy life(ex. 1 Peter 3 : 14-17, John 15 : 18-19, John 15 :20 etc)this side of heaven and to believe anything else is to believe a false Gospel, which we are also warned about(see Galatians 1: 6-9). We are to glorify Christ in EVERYTHING we do(Colossians 3 : 23), every moment of our lives and denying His word in the areas that we don’t agree with does no such thing. Feel free to move on to someone who tickles your itching ears(2 Timothy 4:3-4)but know that we will continue to pray for truth to win. As a woman of Christ I’d encourage you to spend some time in His word and in prayer and see if you can determine what it is about what seems to be in my posts specifically that gets you. How do you look different than the world(2 Corinthians 6 :17, Titus 2 : 14, 1 Peter 2: 9, James 4:4)? You aren’t offended by me or a difference of “opinion”, ultimately you are offended by God’s word(John 7:7, John 15:18-23)

      In Him
Brittany from A Family Serving the King
