Meek and Quiet

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”

1 Peter 3:4

God’s word is clear that our words have power. Proverbs 18:21 even tells us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” We as godly women should be guarding our tongues. We should have a quiet and meek spirit as 1 Peter talks about. We are to be sober(temperate) and displaying holy behavior as Titus 2:3-5 tells us….

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Proverbs 31:26

“She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

Dear sister saint are you striving to be the godly woman God calls you to be? Are you watching your words(verbal and written) and speaking words of life?

Our words have power, the power of death and life!! When we women are upset we tend to look for someone, or something, to spill our hurt on so we turn to friends, family or even social media looking to vent and feel better. But we need to stop and really ask ourselves if this is a godly thing to do….are we going to edify someone and potentially point them to God, or are we going to spew vomit and ruin more relationships and potentially turn someone away from God? I admittedly used to get on social media and rant, without saying names of course, and even go to friends and spill my problems to them. Doing this I caused so much damage, especially to my marriage. So I speak from experience which I have repented of. I can never undo the damage but I did have to repent, change my ways and give the rest to God. I am also currently on the receiving end of this gossip and have had several other relationships ruined because someone got on social media, because they are offended, and ranted when we tried to love on them and encourage them to come out of their sin. Also countless people have now been offended away from the true gospel all because of words of anger and offense. Both sides of the equation are painful and evil!!

Proverbs 16:28

“A froward man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.”

There is a reason the Bible warns us so much about guarding our mouths and speaking words of life and love.

As women we tend to talk and talk and talk….we are incredibly social and relationship based people. God tells us women to be quiet and meek. He tells us to use our words wisely. He even tells us that if we don’t do these things then we blaspheme the word of God(see Titus 2).

So ladies….if you call yourself a born again saint of God, I encourage you to take a look at your words. Really consider what you say(type) before you do so, because truly relationships all around you depend on it. And even more than that, eternity could be on the line for not only you but also whoever you may hurt in the process of your hurtful words. Repent of this nasty sin and ask God to help you to be the godly woman He has ordained you to be. You are to look, talk and act nothing like the rest of the world.

From my broken heart to yours!
