Peace

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” — Romans 5:1

I keep hearing this phrase “protect my peace” and I just can’t stop thinking about how off it is. The peace that so many people are trying to protect is a fake worldly peace. It is a replica that doesn’t even come close to the peace that Christ offers us.

Scripture tells us that if we are in Christ we can have peace no matter what is happening around us. Jesus tells us that He will give us a peace that this world can’t give us.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” — John 14:27 (KJV)

If we have truly surrendered our hearts and lives to Christ and are living according to His words, seeking His will and abiding in Him then we will have peace that we don’t have to protect.

Instead of looking at the heart and truly surrendering our will to Him so many are living high on anti-depressants, social media and gossip. Drowning out the truth of Christ with television and other noises all while claiming Christ as Lord and Savior. Holding on to this false religion that claims Christ but does nothing according to His Word. Belittling and trying to hurt anyone who tries to share truth with them all while claiming they are “protecting their peace.”.

It is impossible to abide in Christ and not have peace. It is impossible to abide in Christ and have your peace taken away from you. So what are you protecting? If your peace is at risk of being taken away from you then it’s time to reevaluate what your source of peace actually is.

Chaos, fear, doubt and unrest cannot coexist with the true peace that comes from a heart and life that is fully surrendered to Christ.

Luke 10 (KJV)¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯⁵ And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.⁶ And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

Luke tells us that if the “son of peace” is not present then peace shall not be either.

So again I ask….what are you protecting? What is your source of peace? Is it this false worldly peace that pretends to be peace or is it Jesus Christ, the one true source peace who provides something that no man can take away from you?
