Titus 2 3-5
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
My prayer recently has been based off of the above passage of scripture. I want to do everything within my power to be the godly woman God has called me to be and I want my children to see these characteristics in me so that they learn them and grow into the godly women that God has called them to be. After all we have a promise from God that if we
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22 : 6
The past few weeks have been spent working on the property to not only get out of the RV and into the shipping containers but also trying to get ready for baby! The girls and I, and even Daddy at times, have been prepping meals to have in the freezer and easy, yet healthy meals that Daddy and the girls can make while I’m resting with the new squish!!
Trying to cut vegetables and meats with littles can definitely be challenging and I’ll just say it….down right frustrating at times! They want to help but really it would be quicker and easier to just do it myself rather than taking the time to try and teach them knife safety, how to read a recipe and clean up the work area.
All of that being said, it has also been so much fun and I have constantly been reminded about my prayers and about what my responsibilities are when it comes to being a godly woman! I am responsible for these tiny warriors! I am responsible for teaching them how to be godly women and with that comes teaching them how to be keepers at home. I was never taught how to cook and manage a home, and I still struggle with the daily tasks that go along with being a keeper of the home like Titus 2 talks about. It is a little challenging to teach someone something that you are still learning and struggling with.
But we are pushing through, learning how to prepare healthy “meat” for our family. We laugh as we pour homemade peach preserves on the counter and feel that sense of accomplishment when our jars properly seal and the freezer is stocked full of meals in preparation for baby!
And Mama continues to learn how to kill her flesh and have patience while she repeats herself for what feels like to tenth time and waits for the girls to finish something that she could have done in seconds!
My oldest is soaking in these moments and wants to be right beside me in the kitchen doing everything I am doing. “Do you mind if I cut those peaches, Mama” she asks? “I want to measure that, Mama!” She is transforming into a godly young woman right before my eyes. In the moment it can be hard but then the Word speaks up inside of me and reminds me that I never had these experiences and I am teaching her how to be a godly woman and one day, if God wills, how to take care of a family of her own.
My physical body is exhausted, between pregnancy, 3 littles and moving/beginning a homestead/ building a house but my spirit is overjoyed and soaring as I see God’s promises continue to come true in my life!
